Lugu Lake 泸沽湖 has always been a place that I heard about but I never thought of going there so soon, because it seemed like a really expensive and far away place in my head. Never would I have thought, I would be at Lugu Lake, the highest lake in Yunnan provine (2900m).
From Lijiang, it takes a 7 hour drive up to the mountains to arrive at Lugu Lake. It’s actually suppose to be a 3 hour journey, if the highway is constructed. So, because the highway was still on the verge of completion, we had to drive up and down mountains, just to arrive at Lugu Lake. Of course, I wasn’t the one driving. Xiao Juan, a girl I met in Dali, hitchhiked with me from Dali to Lijiang to Lugu Lake to Shaxi and eventually back to Dali.
I love Yunnan like how I love this tree
Lugu Lake is really a must-visit when in Yunnan. Although it takes a 7 hour drive, and possibly a hell lot of car-sickness due to the curves and bends along the way, I say it’s definitely a place worth going.
